Open Access Publishing at Stanford University Press
As an academic nonprofit publisher, Stanford University Press aims to make research accessible via a range of formats to those within the scholarly community. The press has long been an active supporter of efforts to innovate within the shifting realm of digital scholarly communication, from the publication of innovative, interactive digital-only projects and the free, online, collaboratively built American history textbook The American Yawp to participation in the NEH’s Fellowships Open Book Program.
In this spirit of openness and innovation, we welcome the opportunity to partner with authors to publish their work open access and encourage anyone considering this option to reach out to their SUP editor.
SUP supports authors who are required by the new UKRI OA policy and other similar governmental and institutional OA mandates to publish their work Green Open Access (self-archiving) under a CC BY license with an embargo of twelve months.
SUP Open Books can currently be found on platforms such as JSTOR, OAPEN, Directory of Open Access Books, and EBSCO, among others.
